UPF 50+ Sun Hoodies
Fractel sun hoodies carry UPF 50+ coverage across every panel, cutting direct sun exposure on long, exposed sessions without trapping heat. Pull one over a singlet at the start, or wear it alone through the middle of the day.
Coolcore Tyndall fabric, cooling without chemicals
Every sun hoodie in this range is cut from Coolcore Tyndall, a recycled jersey fabric that carries UPF 50+ protection through the body, sleeves and hood. The knit stays breathable and cools without added chemicals, holding up on a hot, exposed climb as well as it does on flat, open ground. It's thin enough to layer under a jacket on a cold start and shed once the sun climbs.
Thumbholes, a cinch hood and reflective detail
Thumbholes keep sleeves in place through arm swing. An adjustable cinch hood blocks glare without cutting peripheral vision, and reflective detailing on select styles adds visibility if a session runs into low light. Dual watch windows mean you can check pace without pulling a sleeve back.
One sun hoodie, hot or cold starts
Thin enough to wear under a jacket on a cold morning, light enough to wear alone once the sun's properly up. One hoodie covers both ends of that kind of day, a cold start and a hot finish in the same session, without a layer change in between.
Layer a sun hoodie over one of our men's singlets or women's singlets for a cooler base underneath, or wear it alone alongside a legionnaire hat or one of our visors for coverage from head to wrist. For more warm-weather options, browse our sun protection running hats and running apparel range.
FAQs
What does UPF 50+ actually mean for a sun hoodie?
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rates how much UV radiation a fabric blocks, the higher the number, the more it blocks. Every sun hoodie in our range carries a UPF 50+ rating across the body, sleeves and hood, not just one panel.
Can I wear a sun hoodie instead of sunscreen?
For the skin it covers, yes. A sun hoodie handles your arms, torso and head under the hood without needing to reapply sunscreen mid-run. Anything left exposed, your hands, face and neck, still needs sunscreen or a cap with a brim.
Will a sun hoodie make me overheat in hot weather?
It shouldn't, if the fabric is doing its job. Ours run on Coolcore Tyndall, a recycled jersey knit that manages heat with chemical-free cooling rather than trapping it, so a sun hoodie stays wearable through the middle of the day, not just at the start and end.
Should I wear a sun hoodie fitted or loose?
A closer fit wicks sweat more efficiently and stops the fabric flapping, while a slightly looser sun hoodie trades a little of that for extra airflow underneath. Both work, it comes down to personal preference in the heat.
Can I layer a sun hoodie over a singlet, or does it need to go on bare skin?
Either works. Pull a sun hoodie over one of our men's singlets or women's singlets for a cooler base underneath, or wear it straight against your skin, the UPF rating holds either way.
